The Armored Easter Egg Hunt

It was a blast, from the start even before we got there. Madeleine picked My lord and I up around 7:45 from our home and took us back to hers, I just adore her house its just great, anyways,  we get everything loaded up, armor, garb, people, everything and head out. It's to be a long drive, about 3 hours to the place where the event is at, for the first half we talk and gab. then sleepiness settles in and naps get taken, I wake up to the strains of "heaven on our mind" weee they has the soundtrack to Jesus Christ Superstar hehe look out my window and spot a water tower that declares"you are now entering normal" HAHAH a town called Normal, we make a bit of fun on that, then we notice we passed Philippe's car the red SCA sticker on the back window helped clue us in at first then we pass him and HEY LOOK there he is.
We eventually get to the place around 11:30 or so. pile out, unload then go to Troll to sign in then head to get dressed, the event is ALL outside and it's a we tad nippy, now my Cloak has gone AWOL, most likely in a closet that needs to be cleaned out. We've got the armored Vorpal bunny with us, and throughout the entire event he's a hit with everyone, we get a lot of people quoting Monty Python at us.
Everything is already in full swing, Heavy fighters are suited up and  fighting as are a number of fencers, there is this really kinda neat fort looking building that some people have set up camp under. Lots of people, more kids then where at Crystal ball, they look just so cute all done up in garb. That combined with the outdoor ness of the event makes on really feel in a different time. Adar and I wander about some after eating a lunch of Stew and bread. we look over the merchants there then go to find friends, first at the heavy combat field. We spot Avery and crack up hes got on an over tunic with carrots on it and has these HUGE stuffed carrots on either side of his Helmut., more amusement happened when we showed him the bunny, "you two are geeks" this was said as he put on the be carroted Helmut.
Wander about more, talking to people, I've go tAdar's "Indiana Jones" jacket on over my shoulders so I look just OOHH so period, but had nothing else to put on and   I was cold. The Armored egg hunts are finely announced rules proclaimed and the fencer of to suit up. Adar gets into  the loner gear..I so need to make him his own fencing doublet.
It takes the fencers a bit longer to get ready then the Heavy fighters, they start there egg hunt first then the fencers. The rules for BOTH are, first find as many eggs as you can, then once that's done challenge someone to fight if you win you get an egg if you loose you give up an egg, but you can not take a persons last egg. and one egg *these are those plastic eggs* has a piece of paper inside it that says you get a prize, your not allowed to open up your eggs till it's over. The winner of the  rapier egg hunt is declared regional  rapier champion. no idea about heavy fighters.
During the rapier  bouts we meet up with a nice girl from the local Shire and she lends me a  wrap to wear instead of his jacket, three yards black wool, MUCH warmer, I need to get myself one of those, its just  cloth with the edges sewn so they don't unravel, easy enough to make. Adar found ten eggs and by the end of it he had four, he won some and lost some, won some that the other person only had one egg so didn't; get a new one. I'm not sure on the exact number of bouts he fought I wandered about more on my own, with the rabbit.
Once the winner is declared he gets back into his normal garb and we poke among the merchants some more. We find a very nice hand made blank book that we got for use as our Guest book and found me a very nice Dagger for ten dollars that has a tiger on the sheath and some neat blue highlighted, purely ornamental but it looks neat and will go with my day garb once I get that made.
things start winding down then to get ready for Feast, which we are not going to because we couldn't; get tickets to, we made plans to go to Benagins with a large group from Shattered Crystal but when we get there the place is PACKED and its a 45 minute wait to get in, our group of Six decided to go elsewhere, we ended up at Bob Evans and had a nice meal, much joking. we're not returning to the event for the Dancing and bardic circle afterwards because they have to go home to feed the horses so we pile into he car and head back. much quieter then the ride up, everyones asleep.
We get home around 11:30 and just crash. and that was that.
I have a roll and a half of Photos made and  when I get those developed they will go up on my webpage.
