The
painting you ee on this page is my character of Softpaw, wearing the wedding
dress I had designed for myself. Only since i did that painting I've made
the sleeves a chiffon drapey wing like sleeve instead of a tight
fitting one. So far it's the only thing I have to show what my dress will
look like. I haven't gotten to scan my plans for it in.
See
I'm not going out and buying an off the rack dress. i've had my dream
dress designed out for years. THe Coustumers guild of the SCA group I am
in is going to turn this into a guild project, both mine and bob's outfits.
So I'll be helping to make my dress and I'll be keeping everyone
updated on it's progress during it's making.
The
first meeting of the guild since our engagement is soon and I'll
be going to it and getting price and places to go for fabrics,
ideas on how we can manage to do what with the dress.
I
can tell you this about the dress, If the skirt looks a bit familiar, it
should. The skirt is based on Belle's ball gown from the movie Beauty and
the Beast. The top is to be a lave up corset style bodice. The sleeve as
I said are now to be a sheer flowing sleeve that is gather just below the
shoulder with some roses and poufs there then flows down, very elegant.
the same flower on the sleeve will hold up the sash that goes from
panel to panel of the skirt,
I'll
be wearing a floral garland in my hear with a seer veil. Haven't decided
weather to leave my hair straight or curl it yet. no hurry for that one,
plenty of time.
Woo!
yeah I finely got started on the dress! making a muslin sample of
it first because we are meshing three patterns together and having to
elongate on os the three, the three patters I'm using are all Simplicity.
For the bodice I am using number 9163 the view letter
doesn't matter. for the Skirt number 9902 view A
with addition length added ( 14 inches!) but if I make it in the largest
size offer it fits my waist. the sash around the skirt will be made from
t eh same chiffon material the Sleeves will be made in and I am using pattern
number 9891 view A with an Adjustment to much
the top of the sleeve up some so that it look like the sleeves here.
We've gotten the skirt test made, with adding nine inches to the bottom
and have found that need to add more then nine inches to the bottom! thank
goodness we found that out with the cheep material instead of the expensive
good stuff for the real gown! |
