Over
Christmas we Bob and I went to his parents place, we checked out that sight
we ahd been thinking of for the ceremony, and, its a no go, not big
enough and there is a large ditch in the middle of the clearing. However
my father has suggested a park near where my parents live in Arkansas called
Old Davidsonville State park and after emailing the park I have received
a reply where they said we could have it in the parks township area as
the pavilions are both taken. The township area is a large open area with
oaks and a historical and archeological sight. She attached a picture of
it in the fall for us to get an idea and said its much more colorful in
the spring when it's green. if you want to find out more about this lovely
park go to its page here.
There is also driving direction to the park on the page
We're
getting more things planed and settled now, I've drawn up a plot for what
the ceremony area is going to look like. we plan on making Heraldic banners
for all in the wedding party, as well as using banners of the members of
our SCA group that show up.
We're
working on our own vows. In fact what we're thinking of doing is to combine
the traditional vows with the vows and the tying of the hands together
of a hand fasting ceremony. I found a sight with all kinds of vows on them
and read over the hand fasting ceremony and it was just lovely. Also wanting
to do the unity candle as well. we just need to find someone to perform
the ceremony, in garb, as well!
As
for music, well it'll be eclectic that's for sure. Traditional wedding,
Disney, Soundtracks, and medieval and renaissance styles all mixed together.
still figuring things out but when done I'll put it all up! I personally
hate the Wagner wedding march (Here comes the Bride) so you wont be hearing
that. I do however love Mendelssohn wedding march form Midsummer Night's
Dream so that will show up. We're still trying to find a song to "link"
the whole wedding together, the song the attendants will enter via, and
hopefully able to find some instrumental version of it to play softy during
the ceremony itself. Something from a movie would be great here.
I'm
trying hard to talk Bob and most of the guys out of pulling some high jinks
during the wedding. In other words, they want to have some object at the
bit where it's asked if anyone objects, then Bob will fight and "kill"
him. While the groomsmen will be wearing swords *and a lot of the guests
to!* I don't want them to be pulled except during the sword arch when we
walk back up the aisle! So wish me luck that I convince them not to. |
